Hey guys, I've been thinking about possibly majoring at a 4 year university in psychology and minoring in philosophy. Now, Would it be wise to do this as I do want to get into med school but I'm afraid these courses might not provide sufficient information to me to be able to pass the MCAT with flying colors. I currently am looking to start community college for two years in the summer semester to do prerequisites and be an undecided major until I transfer over to a 4-year. Please help me straighten my ideas out and get things in order as I am a bit lost. Thanks 🙂

Maybe even Double Major in Philosophy and Biology, then Minor in Psychology..

Just go and see what you really like dude. I got my BA in political science. I just took the bare minimum prereqs and still pulled a 30 on the mcat. While this is not stellar by many's standards, it still got me into medical school. Just study hard bro

The prerequisite course you'll have to take for medical school should be more than sufficient for the MCAT. If they are not, Kaplan and Princeton Review courses work equally well.

As stated above, get yourself an MCAT review book and you'll be fine. Also, in the college realm, a minor means very little to nothing. Your major and any honors, interning, or work experience are what count!

Your major or minor doesn't matter at all. I majored in psych, but I did take a few upper level science courses beyond the standard or reqs (human physiology, cell bio, biochem, genetics). I scored 510+ on the new MCAT without a problem.
