I looked all over and didn't find any thread on this topic:I was fortunate enough to be admitted to medical school recently. I submitted my application over the summer when I thought I was planning on being a Chemistry and Biology double major (I am currently a senior). However, a requisite Chem lab course was moved to the same time slot as a Biology lab course I had to take, so I would have had to take an extra semester to complete both majors. Instead I just dropped the Chemistry major and will be graduating in May with a Biology degree, but my AMCAS app still says I am a double major. Is this a large enough change for it to be necessary to update schools where I have yet to interview/have been accepted, or is this largely inconsequential?

I wouldn't worry about it. As medical schools always say - your major doesn't matter. And seeing as you've already been accepted, they already know you're competent enough.

At least let them know. Aren't offers contingent on you finishing your degree as stated on application?

Yeah I'm letting them know. Pre-med paranoia getting the better of me I guess.

This happened to me last year as well. Stony Brook had absolutely no problem with me dropping one of my majors, they just wanted to see the degree on my transcript.

I had to drop a minor and everyone I talked to (LizzyM, Goro etc.) said not to bother updating schools on that. But that's a minor so I don't know if it's any different for double majors. Let us know what they say!

I just received an email stating that this information has to be forwarded to the committee, but it seems (I hope) that the concern is more with my graduation still taking place in May than with the change in major. I hope.
