Well, I've been trying to get my pre-req's covered at night while I manage a full-time job during the day. It's gone fine for a year, but it appears now I'm finally faced with a decision I was hoping I'd never have to make...I've got 2 semesters left to get my remaining pre-req's...ochem lab is completely closed at night, and I obviously need that to take ochem II lab this winter (not offered during spring or summer). The only open sections are during the day, which would mean quitting my job. That's an income my family can't afford to lose if I don't get in this cycle. But if I do get in but don't fulfill the pre-req's, I'll be dropped.

Has anyone been allowed to keep their acceptance w/o every last pre-req?

Is there no lab section available at night or are the ones which are available full? If full, surely you can speak to someone, explain your circumstances and potentially be added to the class.

uhm, ochem lab takes up so much of your time? The class I had was once a week for the whole semester. Could you not work around it?

I guess I wasn't clear. Yes, it's once a week. They offer a bunch during the day, but I work during the day (full-time salary engineer). They offer one section at night, but it's closed. They won't overload because it's a lab, and they only have so many stations (I asked...there was nothing they could do...)

So, I either have to get a major corporation to allow me to miss work one day a week (I don't have enough vacation to cover it), or I quit my job. Or I don't take it this term, take it next term and hope a d-school will give me a pass (not likely)...

If I quit and get in this cycle...not too bad...if I don't get in, then I'll be screwed...try landing an engineering job in michigan right now..

I'm sure at least one person will drop the lab and make the seat available to you. Students drop lectures and labs all the time, especially right before the semester starts when people are re-doing their schedules. Just keep checking every day and see if a seat becomes available.

Since you're a full time engineer, and the people most likely taking the class are full time students who have alot of free space in their schedule, I suggest doing this. Go into the lab section on the first day and offer 300-500$ or some amount of money for the first person to drop the class which will allow you to sign up. Chances are the student in the night class is a college student and will take the pretty good reward and switch out since they can just sign up for an afternoon class with ease.

haha...that's original...i've never heard of that before...my suggestion is to wait till the first day or second day of class because there is ALWAYS people that drop classes!

Haha...awesome ideas...I'll keep checking...can anyone spot me $500?

You already completed the organic chemistry course, the lecture part?

Will your current school accept credit for the lab, if you took it at a different four year university?

I know what you're thinking, but checking other universities was the first thing I did...no luck...
