So, I'm an incoming Freshman and I can't decide what to Major in... I've narrowed it down to two options:

1. B.S. in Biophysics and a minor (Poli-Sci (my school is known for it), Psychology, or something else)
2. My school offers a B.S. in Public Health with an MPH (I'd most likely go with Epidemiology or Biostatistics)

Which one would look better for Medical School? I know I would enjoy both...

Neither looks better to med schools than the other... major in whatever you want. These are two pretty different fields, so you should first figure out what you would enjoy studying more. Personally, I would go with physics, but I'm biased (I'm a physics major).

To med schools, B.S. in basket-weaving = B.S. in Biophysics

I agree with the previous post; it really makes no difference what you major in. The key is that if you are going to have a science major, make sure you take some interesting humanities courses along the way. Show med schools that you are well rounded and interesting courses often find their way into your interviews.

Best of luck.

Are you saying it's useless? Biochemistry would be a better choice?

There are no better choices. He's saying it doesn't matter. It's impossible to make it any clearer than that. Pick whatever you will enjoy and do well in. Your GPA matters. What you major in doesn't. As long as you have the prereqs nobody cares whether you did biochem, biophys, or majored in home ec. Don't waste any time thinking about this. Pick a major you like and you are done. The adcoms aren't going to care.

🙂 Ok. Thanks for the advice. I guess I'm just being overly neurotic about something that's 3 years down the road.

Don't worry about it at this point. Start taking classes in whatever interests you and keep taking classes in what interests you most.
