So currently I am at community college taking all the science course I can before I transfer and wanted to know what would be a good major for pre med besides the obvious ones. I really like science but at the same time don't like stacking all my sciences on top of each other during the semesters. I was thinking public health which is one of my interest.

What you major in does not matter as long as you have a good GPA and have taken the pre-reqs. You might also want to think about what you will do if you are not among the folks who get into medical school on the first try, or who get in at all. Look at what draws you to medicine and what you'd like to do (teach, administer, investigate, invent, innovate, counsel) if med school doesn't pan out. You may need to go for further schooling for an alternative career but having some ideas in your back pocket is not a bad idea. Public health undergrad can prepare you for a Master of Public Health but so can many other undergrad degrees so explore all the possible paths.

Whatever major is interesting to you and ideally provides you with a Plan B in case Medicine falls off the table.

I was in your place once and was also pressured into taking as many science courses as possible before transferring to a UC school. This isn't necessary, and as was posted above some medical schools frown upon taking the pre-reqs at community college (not officially, because that can also be frowned upon 😆, but you get the point).

How many pre-reqs/science courses have you taken so far? You are right, taking too many science/math courses in one semester is a recipe for disaster.

Engineering majors tend to take all science/math courses every semester but they are also notorious for having lower GPAs, and as was posted above your GPA & MCAT will be crucial to getting your foot in the door.

yes, i started at cc because i was still unsure at the time if i wanted to be pre med, after a year i def want to do pre medicine and apply for med school.

I went to community college.

Anyway, from a prep for medical school perspective, whatever major most closely aligns with molecular biology with a sprinkling of physiology. That will be the most helpful for medical school classes by far. I saw a few non-science majors really struggling seeing hardcore molecular biology concepts for the first time in med school.
