My school apparently has low placement rates as well, and I will admit, it is a tiny bit worrisome. A lot of the students at my school for pre-med all have to compete with the state U just down the street for the few volunteer spots open. Luckily, I found something that works, and while unconventional, it is definitely an interesting experience. Your pre-med experience isn't wholly based on where you go, it's what you do with where you are.
To answer OPs original question, my major is music. It drew my interest when I started talking to the choir director. I had always been able to sing, but now, I can call myself a musician, and hopefully, a doctor in the coming years.
