First of all, congratulations on both as they are excellent schools. I had to post because Colorado State has always been my dream school so given the chance I would go there. Unfortunately I am an alternate there now and I will probably let it go rather than playing the waiting simply because I have other good choices. Also, I am the number seven alternate at NCSU.
Colorado was my number one pick due to the very strong equine program, exceptional teaching hospital, and the location. Colorado is a beautiful state with tons of opportunities for outdoor oriented people.
The downsides of Colorado in my book are the large class size and the expense of tuition (although it sounds like the later is not much of factor in your case).
NCSU also has an excellent reputation as I understand and I have heard that Raleigh is a lovely place although I have never been there. I believe the NCSU has some great programs geared toward aqua vet/exotic vet med if you are interested in these areas.
Lastly, it is always nice to be near family, however if you are planning to return to home when you graduate from veterinary school (as I am) than it may be fun to live somewhere completely different while you have the chance.
Good luck! You can't go wrong either way so feel good about whatever decision you make.
