some options and a question as i enter the pre med post bac world...

1. usc pre med post bac...
2. drew/ucla pre med post bac...
3. new college of ca science institute

at usc we go to classes with the other undergrads, it's got a good rep, and they hold your hand through the application year.
they start in summer.

at drew/ucla, they work with students' schedules...plus it's got a good rep...
they start in fall.

at new college of ca science institute, a place i had never heard of, they offer an 8-month saturday and sunday, 9.5 hrs each day, without break, for the 8 months straight.
most students are people interested in veterinary school, chiropractic, and acupuncture.
they are wasc accredited.
the idea of "upper science" courses in their curriculum is up for debate, most likely meaning non-existent.
they have no math courses.
to satisfy some 4 unit course requirements, you have to find an extra one unit lab, which means it's outside of the set schedule.
frankly, it sounds a bit dodgy to me.
they start jan 7...

opinions?

and one question: do medical schools and/or pre bac programs really consider one's ethnicity?

thanks!

I would be wary of lesser-known programs - USC & UCLA are good names that everyone will know. I'm from the East Coast, so I may just be clueless on this one (I assume you're applying as a CA resident) - you know better than I.

As for race consideration - please don't get a war started here. Yes, med schools do consider race if you are in a certain ethnic group - they're called Underrepresented Minorities ("URM"s). Many POST (not pre- you already have a degree) bacc programs are specifically set up for URM's - do some googling.
