Curious as to what people's thought are on this. Was thinking of adding a few sentences in my last paragraph for my top 5-10 programs.

Also, if I have family in the area - is it better to mention this in the interview rather than the PS? dont want to give off the impression that I am only considering them because of family.

I'm also an MS4 but I've heard adding a few sentences at the end is appropriate. Also, I don't think it would be held against you if you mentioned your family is nearby. I heard they appreciate subjective input like that when reviewing applications from around the country. Good luck! 🙂

It's reasonable if you are willing to put the extra time in, doubt it could hurt you.

And yes, mention family in the area, especially for an area far away from your medical school/rotations. It'll give mid-tier programs that wouldn't interview you otherwise a reason to think you may actually come there.
