This is a very important precious advice when it comes to rank or choose residency training program because you dont need to be forced to resign or be terminated. This can be the worst life crisis ever you might will have. So let us first define what does it mean " Malignant residency training program" mean?
Terrible hours? Abusive to interns? Bullying and demeaning ? harassing or not educating? unequal distribution of surgical cases? Bad leadership? built cases or trapping a resident to fail by making up tricks with other resident? Forcing residents into wanting to quit?
its a program that tries to single you out... you may have a senior that doesn't like you and wants to ruin you, they make things up, spread rumors, tell all your other collegues, anything to get the PD to throw you out of the program in the end. Or another opinion If a program is malignant, most or all of the residents feel the brunt, not just one being "singled out". It's not a pleasant place to come to work. It doesn't have to be that way, but some places foster that culture, and there is very little a resident can do about it besides be a whistleblower/whiner, get him/herself kicked out of the program and maybe get the program in trouble. None of which are great options. so to avoid this i created this post to give opportunity for any resident who been abused, or feel like his program fits the malignant criteria or even his program but him/her on probation or was actually terminated unfairly, to post the name +/- why he/she consider this program malignant. Either if this is your personal opinion, personal story or other friend story in your program or other program. You don't have to mention your name or your friend's name. You can only provide the program name as well.
