We got a mailing a few weeks back that outlined our benefits, beyond our salaries - it was a clear-cut effort to "guilt" us. One thing was the amount of malpractice insurance paid on our behalf. However, the ACGME requires a training program to bear the cost of malpractice liability insurance for trainees. It is not a benefit. Don't let anyone use that as a bargaining tool when you are interviewing. No program will (or can) charge you for the cost of your malpractice insurance, so, for a program to say it's paid, well, that's the status quo.
