Hello all

Was looking into locums for a while when I'm in between contracts, any Pearl's of wisdom about what kind of malpractice insurance I should look for when performing locums work ?
Thanks

You should be going through a locums company and they provide the malpractice insurance. Now, if you are doing locums on your own then that a different problem.

Yes they do but which companies provide the best malpractice? How would I know ?

Its all pretty much standard. 1mil/3mil Plus, you need to remember that the locums company has retained legal counsel. I was pulled into a lawsuit as a witness during a job. The locums company sent a lawyer to be with me during the questioning.

So what happens if someone is named in a lawsuit?
I've been told almost 1/3 of all FP are named in a lawsuit during their lifetime so that eliminates them from being hired again ?
As all locums companies I'm working with want a "clean " record
What are the chances of being hired again if you have a couple of lawsuits?
No more locums
Has not happened yet but I always dread for the day

I have never been named in a lawsuit but I was called as a witness in a lawsuit on a patient I took care of. The locums company actually sent a lawyer to be there with me during the deposition so the other sided didn't try anything crazy. They really do have your back.
