if i majored in management for med school, would this look good?
I am not looking for the typical "med schools dont care what you major in" answer

What does looking good even mean.

If asked "why management" then just make sure you have an appropriate answer.

Quit worrying about your major. Major in something you enjoy. Sure, non science is the atypical route, but business is arguably the best major long term. You can learn all of the science needed for the mcat on your own and once you get to med school, it's a reset button anyway. Only disadvantage I see is lack of research due to your major.

It is the truth that med schools don't care what you major in. If you are passionate about management that you are willing to study it in depth, and you have the ability to succeed in it, by all means go ahead and major in it. Med schools want to see that you study something because it was your own interest, not because you were hoping it would look good to them.

As people mentioned repeatedly in BOTH of your other threads on this topic (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/need-serious-help-advice-with-major.1176493/#post-17268640 and http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/major-help-decision.1176632/), medical schools do not give preference to any particular major. This means that there isn't any one major or set of majors that "look good." What "looks good" to med schools is a high GPA and a good MCAT score. It does not matter which major you choose. Only YOU can decide which major is right for you. If you're having trouble with that decision, reach out to your advisor.

I'm curious what you were looking for if not the refrained answer given?

looking for a "yes you should do it since it will make you stand out since not alot of people do it" or a "no, you should not major in that since it will not make you stand out" @molarmom

Well, you're not going to get that answer. You're looking for someone to tell you something that just isn't true. There are plenty of things on an application that can make you stand out (good grades, interesting ECs, extensive clinical experience, a unique personal story) but your major just isn't one of them.

You are thinking about this question all wrong. For one, the underlying assumption is that you should major in something because it will make you stand out. You should most definitely not do that. Study something challenging that you actually enjoy so that you can do well and be motivated to keep doing well. The real answer here is simply: your major is not a factor that is considered during medical school admissions to any significant degree.

I can't reccomend a non-science major for you to "make you stand out", since their theoretical subjects rarely see things as being either white or black.

Medical schools are looking for someone who can make sound decisions for valid reasons.

So make a decision and ignore the INVALID reason of how your decision will look to med school AdComs.
