Does anyone know where the mandates come (specifically) for physicians/nurses to ask patients certain questions during doctor visits?
For example, every patient needs to be asked:
-- are you in pain?
-- CAGE questionairre
-- have you fallen?
-- do you have allergies to Latex?
-- etc., etc.
It seems that where I work, nurses spend 20 minutes or so with each patient asking and charting mundane questions that physicians should be able to ask in a few seconds. And these mandated questions consume resources, take away time to do more pertinent tasks, and ultimately reduce access to care.
