Is this just my chain or state? We received an email stating that there was a new procedure regarding filling prescriptions in good faith. If for any reason we refuse to fill a script (due to forgery, not in good medical practice, etc.) we are to report this to the DEA by filling a form out and faxing it to them within 3 days. Is this the DEA going after pharmacists/doctors or the patients that are essentially lying to us? I can kind of see this as being used against a health care provider if we fail to catch these people. It would be great to see some DEA agent show up at a patient's door who frequently attempts to fake prescriptions though. :lol I'd like to see a reality show of that.

I don't think it's from the DEA, at least not that I see in DEA pharmacist's manual. Of course there are parts that imply pharmacists have to report any suspicious activities to them. However, as part of prescription drug monitoring program, many states definitely require reporting or else you are committing a misdemeanour. Either way I doubt that in a busy pharmacy you will find a lot of compliance to this laws. I wonder if any pharmacists will get shot by drug abusers after attempting to confiscate their scripts.
