mandatory to shadow DO ?

if i am ready to apply to MD, does that mean i am ready to apply to DO? or DO has specific requirements that MD doesnt have?
is it true that you have to shadow a DO to apply to DO schools? because i shadowed an MD.
the reason i ask is i want to have a back-up plan if i end up getting 25 on the mcat because that score pretty much guarantees no MD.

At most schools you do, and you have to get a letter from them. I havent done that yet, but I have two interviews at d.o. schools so it might not be a huge deal

I applied to every school that did not require a DO letter (I had a much stronger MD letter) and I believe I was able to apply to 16 schools. So, no, you do not need a DO letter.
