Hey guys for AADSAS it says "Describe" any manual dexterity activities you have. Do we have to write out in sentence form what they are and describe why they are manual dexterity (if so can you please give me examples so I can see how to do it) or do we simply have to list out the activities. Here are my activities:

Small electronic repair -
Soldering
Fruit carving
Knitting
Model car construction

Also would you guys consider (Cutting Hair) manual dexterity? My reasoning is that I involves hand eye coordination, and in certain cases extreme attention to detail and precision.

For that section I want to write about my experience as an orthodontic assistant....since I have been doing it the last 6 years and have become "proficient" at it. Other than that I have some activities but I dont think they are worth mentioning, like playing the flute in high school, arts and crafts I used to, stuff like that is not very recent.....any thoughts?

way to go Dentgrl2984, you pretty much jacked this thread away from the OP to brag about your activities. It seems like you already know the answer to your question.

Duvaldentist, all of the activities you listed are great examples of manual dexterity involving hobbies. If I were to choose, I would play up model car construction and hair cuttery in a concise paragraph.

I think those are all fantastic activities for manual dexterity. Why not list them all? Perhaps you could say something like, "Some activities I like to do include __________. All involve hand eye coordination, attention to detail, and precision." Again, I am just throwing out ideas.

You mean adcoms are so clueless that there is a need to tell them that certain activities involve manual dexterity?

Nobody ever asked me about this section, and I put mediocre stuff and just listed it.

- Violin 3 years
- cooking
- Rubik's cubes
- Lab techniques

Pretty terrible in hindsight, but hey it worked 😛

I think this section is not that important if your other sections are ok.

Lol good ol' doc toothache. Again just throwing stuff out there. Good luck OP I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thank you for your advice "Experiment626" it is very much appreciated.

"Doc toothache" what do you suggest for this portion of the application?

And can anyone chime in on whether or not cutting hair (males hair) counts for manual dexterity.

Sculpting using a chain saw requires manual dexterity but it would hardly rate as fine motor skills.
