if anyone could help me out here, i was looking to clarify what i heard in class the other day reguarding MAO and COMT. are they both found in the synapse or presynapse. or is one exclusive to one location. thanks for any help.

COMT is generally NOT found in adrenergic neurons, whereas MAO IS found in adrenergic neurons. COMT is generally found in the cytoplasm and MAO is associated with the mitochondria. Generally COMT is found in the post synaptic neuron and MAO can be located in adrenergic neurons themselves as well as other locations such as the gut (MAO-A), brain, or nerve terminals.
