so i just got the newest edition of the dat destroyer...my questions is...is there any difference between this one and an older one??i mean in the first couple of pages it does state something about dry erasing which has not been an issue up until recently...but it could just be that one page that has be rewritten!...i heard the dats got harder so have the questions changed to gear more towards the harder dats???

holy snap...the organic chem stuff is tough...i proly get less than half the stuff on...the gen chem looks straight forward..and the bio is obviously really straight forward...and i thought i was gonna do my best on the org chem part!!!!i took a practice exam from the real dat that was given like 4 years ago and that thing is freaking BEANS compared to what they are asking in this book...but yeah...still can someone answer my question stated above??thank ya

if Dr. Romano would upgrade the destroyer then you are sure to get new questions that are relevant to the current DAT or just better practice problems. If he is upgrading then he might as well fix up minor errors. So if you have the newer edition of course it depends how old the old one you have but in any case there are for sure newer questions in the new one hence the word upgrade. It is one of the best DAT study guides out there. Good luck.

seriously guys...am i the only one...or did someone else pick up the destroyer and feel completely annihilated...the organic chem is SERIOUS...the blue book is soooooo much easier...bio is understandable..and gen chem is a little crazy but doable with much effort and time...BUT ORGO!!!!what the ****

i'll be sutre to let u know in a week...just ordered mine today!

but i mean if you did kaplan's blue book, didn't you also memorize all of the reactions for ochem? destroyer ochem is only hard because there are a lot of specific mechanisms that he expects you to regurgitate. that's a good thing!

For some questions, Destroyer gives you rxns and doesn't tell you what rxn it is. Even in the "solutions" portion, there is no clear explanation. It wasn't until I was near the end of my studying (and had gone through destroyer 5-6 times) when I finally realized what the rxns were (Wolf-Kishner, Claissen, etc). It's fine for telling you what you need to study, but you've got to take it from there and look at other sources.

NO its not like that...i read the blue book and i get it...but destroyer has reactions with stuff that i have never even read...i dont know...its weird...

If you have a solid background then the destroyer provides an excellent review for the chemistries. Without a solid foundation you will be lost in the destroyer.

agreed..

The orgo is pretty simple.. The book just has a lot of things that most people wouldn't really think about (or that Kaplan doesn't throw at you).

I've had mine for about 2 weeks.

I love it. 😀
