Also, please post:

How do you expect your status to change once you start?

Status: Single and NOT searching.

I don't expect my status to change anytime soon or in the next 3 or 4 years, if it's within my power. The LAST thing I need is DISTRACTION! 🙂

How do you expect your status to change once you start: I don't 😳

That's the funny thing about relationships. They kinda smack you upside the head when you least expect them. They definitely do happen once you get here.

My roommate (a 4th year) dated a girl in his class for 3 years, and he said it actually helped his study habits a great deal. They were both motivated and studied together.

Don't ask what happened with the relationship, though. That's for a completely different thread: "When dental student relationships go bad."

Marriage? Dating? Are you kidding? I have enough problems trying to figure out my own crap right now! Anybody at this stage in their life who can pull their stuff together and include the needs of another person has my respect. Although I've heard a lot of nasty divorce and break up stories that occured during Dental/Medical school. William Olympus, I think you know what I'm talking about.

I got engaged last year right before D school started. I'm at IU.

My finace had to stay back in FL to apply for Med school on his year off. So we have to do a long distance engagement for one year.

The good news is that he got into IU Med school, so he will be here with me next summer.

We are getting married this June. We bought a condo up here in Indy together. I'll be a 2nd yr dent and he'll be a 1st yr med.

I've had to do the wedding planning long distance with my mom over the phone. It's been a great and fun challenge. I did most of the planning this Xmas break.

I can't imagine not having my finace. Just talking to him on the phone has helped me cope with school and being so far from Orlando. Don't necessarily look at relationships as being a burden. They are a blessing if the 2 ppl involved truly love each other.

I think having my future husband with me during second yr will be pivotal in my success as a 2nd yr. Since he will be studying too, it will motivate us both.

Good luck with your relationships. If you're not in one, don't be afraid to dabble in love. There are 3 couples in our class. So far, so good... :meanie:

Single and off the market!

(until further notice)

Single. I don't know if my fragile nerves could take "Where's my ring?", "Does this make me look fat?", and "You left the toilet seat up!" on a regular basis right now. No, I'm not jaded...

Yeah, it's bad enough I have to deal with my roommates, huh? Sprgrover has to listen to me gripe about them all the time.

All I know is that it's going to be nice to have someone willing to give me a nice massage after a long day of class and studying.

😍

The singles are leading! Ha! Ha!!

You may want to specify your gender and sexual orientation along with a message like that. 😀

Now that's scary! :scared:

I'll be (hopefully) still in a long term relationship with my boyfriend of a year and a half when I go to Pittsburgh. We'll have to try the long distance thing then.

Having a boyfriend can actually helped my grades so much this past year. Ahhh the benefits of dating an extremely patient engineer. 😀 He never got irritated when I was like, "can you explain this to me?" while studying for the DAT. 🙄

I agree in most cases. I hope it wouldnt be the case with you though

Dental school puts enough of a strain on a relationship even if your significant other is in the same area code. Now add a few thousand miles between you and you got yourself an impossible proposition.

damn, i dont wanna be single for FOUR years.......which is exactly why dental schools should enroll more female students. single female students.

actually im a dood. what are you thinking! 😱
Gotcha! I knew a guy would refute such a claim. Yes I'm a devious female.

There will be plenty of singles at school...I wonder if there are any stats out there showing the M:F ratio at D-schools. 1:3 would be nice. 👍

Dream on... You can alway date undergrads too you know.

I am for whatever makes you the happiest... Long distance, the single life, what ever it might be!
Dental school is going to be tough, so if I find someone who can make me laugh so hard I can skip crunches at the gym I am all for it!!!

Aaww, that's cute.

I'm surprised the second leading group is "Married" people

I'm single, so to answer the question "How do you expect your status to change once you start?" "hopefully it'll change" haha
