marked questions on step I

what happens if you mark a question and put down an answer and dont have time to get back to it before time finishes, I assume they keep the answer you marked even though you didn't unmark it right?

also, how many experimental questions are there? I heard about 50.

Marking answers doesn't affect the scoring.
 
I think I marked on average about ten questions per block, and those are the questions that I returned to after I finished the whole question set. I recall having roughly twenty minutes remaining per block during which I would head back and think these questions through before selecting my final answer.

To answer the question I am sure that marking question in and of itself has no bearing on scoring.
