Marquette Alternate List?
Started by Predent2
Which is why I didn't even bother to waste 1k on that alternate list spot (especially for in-state).I think they are basically done. Someone would have to walk away from their deposit.

You're not wasting any money since they don't cash it unless they offer you a spot AND you accept it. You could have a balance of 5 dollars in your account and still send them a 1,000 dollar check. You just have to send them a check to stay an alternate. But you better come up with the money darn quick if you get offered a spot!

I see....I thought that they cashed the check whether or not you get in. But it doesn't matter anyway since I got into schools higher on my list.
I think most of the movement occurs on the OOS alternate list.Ya my letter says they don't cash it unless offered a permanent spot as well, but the deadline has passed for alternate deposits...it says by mid February they were due...but I heard in years past that spots do open up so I'm staying positive!

1. Yes they definitely don't cash your check unless you get accepted. I got one returned to me in September this year after moving across the country. Until I read the attached letter I thought someone sent me a 1000 dollar check and I was quite excited haha.
2. Admissions seems to be out of town this week so even if no one got called this week there's still hope! Good luck to whoever gets it!

I called yesterday and they answered and said very nicely that there hasn't been any movement in the class but they do make a note that you called.
So they didn't say anything about the OOS spot that opened? I thought they would have filled it ASAP (although I am happy they didn't so there is still hope)
Ya they didn't say anything about it when I called and that was before they asked for my name to mark that I called. However, I am instate...but since they didn't know that fact until after they said no movement it did make me wonder a little bit. I have heard in the past of spots opening up on both lists though so yes, there is definitely still hope!
I just reread the FAQ letter Marquette sent about being on the alternate list. It said there are usually 100 alternates in the pool. Does anyone know if that means they send 100 letters or they send 100+ letters and normally 100 people send in the deposit to be put on the alternate list? And does that mean there are 100 OOS and 100 resident or 50/50...?
Nope, not yet... I keep thinking about it everyday that I wake up though lol
