Does anyone know how important it is to be invited to tour/interview at Marquette? I know that they don't have formal interviews, but a few people I've talked with have been invited to the school for an (I think) informal interview. Also, is it true that New York University cuts it's freshman year class by 70% at the end of the first year, leaving only the top 30%?

A few in my class were concerned and asked the faculty. Here is the response:
"Dr. Lavers also clarified that the faculty in no way is required to fail a certain percentage of the class."
just a rumor...a big fat rumor. I think if comes from the fact that NYU gives some people a chance that shouldn't be in dental school. They do not realize the opportunity they are given and fail out themselves. It is not easy to be in dental school, you have to study and they just don't.
The Faculty does everthing to try and keep you in. Everyone has a mentor to talk too and the profs are so nice and are willing to help anytime.
You could fail three classes and remediate. If you fail 4...good bye!!! I think this is very generous compared to some schools.

Brian Trecek is the director of admissions. you can call the school and ask for a tour of the school. the tour comes with an interview with Mr. Trecek. last year, my interview with him lasted for an hour and then he himself took me for a tour of the dental school. then we went back to the conference room for 10 more min of talk. He is a great person and the interview is very laid back. his first question: "Ok, tell me about yourself."

I didn't ask for any specific person. i Belive though that Brian takes care of all the interviews himself; unless now everyone decides to visit the school.
I dressed as professioanl as i could; just like my interviews. after all, you are interviewing for a professional school.
