hey guys,

I was wondering if being married will make the adcoms see you as non-trad even if you want to go to medical school straight out of college. If you say you are married, doesn't that show you can maintain a long relationship, have your priorities in order and keep it sane? Would the adcoms also consider kids as bonus points? What are your thoughts on this and is this something i should be looking into?

thanks

Not sure if serious...

But on the off chance that you are, the fact that you are even asking about this makes it clear that you are clearly not ready to be married.

SDN just got weirder and weirder. Ppl literally try to spin every freaking thing they have to be unique and desirable to adcoms. Kids as bonus points? I feel sorry for your wife and kids if by some miracle you manage to have them.

OP--I do not believe that being married will make you seem a non-trad.
I do not think it will show significant maturity and display you have your priorities in order.
The adcoms will not see children as a bonus.

Best of luck in applying!

Adopt an African kid instead. It looks a lot better and all the cool celebrities are doing it

^ why African? why put a certain indication of the kids color or race. Why not just adopt a kid.

Do nontrads have such a significant advantage? Does it go up the more "nontrad" you are (ie the older you are and longer it's been since you went to school)?

You just graduated high school and haven't stepped foot in a college classroom yet. Why do you insist on posting threads entirely irrelevant to your actual life?

It's relevant because i want to be a good choice for medical school by showing the personal traits they are looking for.

So you're going to make your choice about getting married or having kids based upon how medical schools perceive it?

You are a gunner like no other.

Good God. You're on a completely 'nother level of gunner. Have a wife and kids just to increase chances of getting into med school?

And we both know what happens to 99% of gunners...

Not really, they are just given more tolerance for things like LORs and shadowing, but are expected to have more experiences. The emphasis on uGPA is probably diminished slightly, depending on what has been done since then. It's not like URM status or anything.

Pay some actors to be your wife and kids, a la Barney Stinson. Then bring them along. Your interview will be legen...wait for it...DARY. LEGENDARY.

Nah, it needs to be legal. Get a greencard marriage and split ways after being accepted into med school.

You won the "Most stupid threads made by a single dude" award about ten threads ago.

Lay off making new threads. Just sit on your thought for a few days.

I call troll. I'm on to you, Verum.

Hey guys I poop three times a day instead of one.. Will this be frowned upon by adcoms because they will think I don't have self control, or will it be seen as added bonus points? opinions anyone?

Stop obsessing and chill out.

You do? You are at a disadvantage.... I'm in good shape though, I poop once a week 🙂

How impressive, i had better start eating more fiber to turn that disadvantage into an advantage. I don't want the adcoms to frown upon it. I need all the bonus points I can get

Can we keep the thread serious please guys? I'm asking a serious question here and in need of some real advice.

Don't get married, simply never poop like ironmandoc and BAM instant acceptance.

Everyone on SDN seems pretty constipated all the time, so I wouldn't be surprised if no one here shat ever.

Bahahahahaghahahhahafhaha

This kid is tolling all of us. If you were a true gunner you'd spend the summer after high school graduation pre reading your o chem textbook,.not posting on SDN

If you want a serious thread don't ask a stupid question. I hope you're a troll because I fear for humanity if Verum is really this dense.

I believe most of us are either under the assumption, or hope to God, that the original purpose of this thread was either trolling or joking around.

I actually attempted to do that after HS a while back, but ended up enjoying my summer instead. 😀

I already watched the Orgo series on KhanAcademy and understood most of it. And why are you guys tossing around the words gunner and troll so much? I'm just a regular guy trying to get into med school.
