I got married earlier this summer and am currently working on secondary applications. The catch is that my husband already has been accepted to his PhD program in Boston and will be starting this fall, so I am only applying to schools within commuting distance of Boston so that he will be able to attend his program. When answering the "Why us" or "Anything else important to know" secondary prompts, would it benefit or hurt my application to explain that I am only applying to schools in/near Boston because of my husband's PhD?

On the one hand, telling schools that I am only applying in the Boston area because my husband is going to school there could show that I would almost definitely attend if accepted. On the flip side, they could view my application as only interested because of the location, and that I am not truly committed to med school regardless of the cost (ie a long-distance marriage). I am very interested in all the schools and very committed to med school, I am just more committed to not being in a long-distance marriage.

Note: I know the location is very limiting to my application, so please don't comment on that aspect of my application. I've already come to terms with the fact that my odds of acceptance are low given how few schools fit my location criteria.

It would be best if you can include additional things specific to each school.

There are only 4 medical schools in Massachusetts and their median stats are very high.
Applying to only 4 schools is a very risky proposition.
As a logical and intelligent applicant, expand your application region to the entire NE United States and have lots of weekend visits until your husband finishes his PhD.

At least add Brown, NYMC, and the DO schools in NY and New England. NYC MD schools if your stats are high enough. UVM and Dartmouth are a little farther.
