I have been on the board for a while now, and I can't recall anyone ever talking about Marshall. There are only 2 spots on mdapplicants.com about this school, and one guy i think was interviewed with them with like a low 20's mcat score. I really like watching their football games 2 years ago. Does anyone have any information about the school?

If you're an out of state applicant, don't even bother. They have a maximum of 3 spots for them, and they only pull them from the surrounding states.

Thanks bigbassinbob. So I guess that gives the answers why no one really talks about the school to much. To bad, I really liked watching their games.

I know this is a really long time after the original post, but, here goes...

I am also an out-of-stater that applied, and was accepted, to Marshall. If you have good scores, then you have a chance...but only if you have a real tie to WV or Huntington or Marshall itself. I went to MU for undergrad, had 10's, 3.9, and was President of a student organization very well known to medical school staff...not to mention Huntington is my second home.

Bottom line: all you can lose by applying is the app fee and a few minutes of time.

Have you applied to Marshall? I don't think they take anyone from out of
state at all unless you have relatives, etc. from WV...PLUS, the malpractice
lawsuits there are unbelievable.....instead of hoping to win the lottery,
WV people hope to find a doctor (or med student) who will be easy prey for
a frivilous but successful (cause their WV friends are on the jury) lawsuit.
My family and I live in Virginia and no one wants to work in WV....most of
the docs have come out of the state if they can. They do have a good
football team....play Virginia Tech where we have season tickets...crazed fans.

Except if we play VA Tech, we'll lose.

I don't know if your post was directed to me or to the original poster...but if you were talking to me, I have applied and been accepted to MUSOM. To get in out of state, you have to have good scores and have some specific tie to WV, not necessarily relatives. Myself, I have relatives, go to church in Huntington, work at the Medical School, went to MU for undergrad, and my mother is from Huntington...so it's obvious that I'm very well connected to the city of Huntington and the state of WV.

I think the law suit issue will get a little better, but maybe not a lot. I think that for the elections this year, the opponents of the Supreme Court incumbents ran adds explaining how everyone's insurance was high because the current Supreme Court Justices allow frivilous suits.

But then again, WV's state legal system is very awkward, because Charleston is composed of lawyers from WVU since it's the only law school in the state. But that's another issue for another time....

Does anybody know if you can defer from Marshall University?

You don't get it. He HAS to know about Marshall deferment and he he CAN'T start a new thread. It's that important!

So I don't get it. Was that a "yes" Marshall does allow acceptances to be deferred?

Ah, SDN. Hate if you bump, hate if you don't.

The biggest misconception about this has to be cleared up..

When posters tell you to use the search function, it means that someone has more than likely asked your very same question and there have been a plethora of qualified responses. So if you use the search function and browse the presented threads, you will find the answer or answers you were looking for WITHOUT having to make a new thread or bump an old one. '

Does this make sense?

Wow... what was the purpose of this. Did you think I needed an explanation on searching?

I was commenting on the post about necro-bumping.

Personally, I was pleased that the new user used the search function, even if it was very slightly misused. I wish everybody did.

Haha, I apologize. I probably should have come up with a more productive response. Sorry RuffShuff! Definitely call and ask to echo others

The only times I've heard of Marshall are "We are Marshall" and Randy Moss.
