Order of operations for me was:
1) AADSAS app
2) E-mail for secondary app
3) E-mail for interview
4) E-mail for acceptance

That being said, there were numerous e-mails between me and the admissions dept. regarding LOR's, courses in progress, etc. interspersed among this list...but no phone appt...

I did, however, have a 'phone appt.' when I applied the first time - 2 years ago (I had a 3.0 uGPA, and I believe an 18AA on the DAT). I called Dr. Meehan (per her letter) and she told me what steps to take before reapplying (post-bacc/ retake DAT). She urged me to boost my DAT score, and show that I could hack the chem coursework in the postbacc with solid grades. I did just that and got in two years later (yesterday)! 😎

Maryland is a great school, and I was VERY happy with the admissions office, Dr. Meehan, and all the staff/students - they outlined a plan for me, I followed it, and it worked. 👍

So after you submit your secondary, you get interview confirmation email?
Is that how it's usually done?
This feels wierd! At least I heard back..so I guess the phone appt thing is not a bad thing??
I would love to go to maryland!!

man i must have bombed my interview. i interviewed on Oct 14th and still haven't heard anything from them. seemed like a typical interview, laid back/conversational, etc. kinda sucks seeing people get in so soon after jan interviews. but congrats for those!

I got the interview invited yesterday for February 16th! Tried calling to confirm but got the answering machine, is it because of the snow maybe? Anyways, SO excited about the possibility of joining you all in the fall! 😀

Awesome, have you confirmed yet? I was trying to on Friday but got the answering machine (so I left a message), figured it was cos of the snow this morning! Do you know where you're staying? I'm thinking the Sheraton they suggested. 🙂 I'M SO EXCITED, this has been on of my top schools the past couple years now! 😀

Judging by the 2009-2010 calendar, it looked like orientation was during the first week of August, and that classes started the second week. 🙂 So, I'd imagine a similar schedule for this year? Wow, I'm so excited! 😍

My interview (as well as everyone else's in my group that day) was a 2-1 format (2 interviewers/ 1 interviewee). I believe this is MD's standard format; 1 faculty member + 1 student interview 1 candidate.

The interview itself was laid back but professional. I actually enjoyed the entire day there (seriously). The other applicants seemed great, the admissions dept. was fantastic, the students we met were the type of people I knew I wanted to study/work with, and the day was ordered and informative. In my opinion, they're really trying to get to know 'you' and see if 'you' will fit in there while bettering their program.

Good luck on your interview! I'll pass on a bit of sage advice I was given from someone accepted there before me - "Be yourself!"
