hey, I just came back from my maryland interview, and it was actually fun. I was kind of nervous at first since it was my first interview but the faculty and the students were very helpful, so it took a lot of the pressure and anxiety away. The interview was very laid back, so all I got to say to those who are interviewing there in the near future is just relax, it's really not that bad!

dont forget to update on the interview feedback page

thanks, dmoney.
For the 25 minutes, did the two faculty and the student take turn to ask questions? do you have a chance to ask them questions as well?

hmmmmm, well, as I said, the interview was very laid back....the student interviewer was very friendly and actually did not speak a whole lot, she asked me maybe 1 or 2 questions, basically just wanted to get to know me, if I am not mistaken, I think she asked me about my activities after school, what do I do for fun, etc... the faculty interviewer was also very nice and asked me about my interest in school, my expereince as an undergrad, about my future aspiration and about my background (family and stuff), I do come from a non-traditional background so they just wanted to know more about me, which was kind of cool. I was surprised though, that they did not ask me even one question about why I wanted to become a dentist or anything of that sort, the only thing that came close to that topic was :why maryland and what other schools did you apply to and why. I told them what schools I applied to, I didn't see any point in lying, I don't know if it would affect their decision or not, b/c they did ask what other interview I got and I noticed that they wrote down the list of schools that offered me interviews, do you think that's a bad thing or not? I was actually kind of scared about that, what do you think? but overall, great school with really nice and down to earth people working there, which at the end of the day, made a big difference

thanks, dmoney.
Well, it is the only place so far given me an interview.
I really appreciate their quickness and friendly staff.
I can definitely see myself there for 4 plus years.
But I am an out-of-stater.
Competition is tough.

Every school seems interested in this. I suspect that the only reason they do this is to screen for your odds of matriculating should they accept you. This concerns me because everytime I mention that I applied to my in-state school (UW), interviewers flash this look that says, "guess he won't be coming here!" even though I'd be genuinely interested in going somewhere else.

SIDE NOTE (to dmoney ): I think we met at the U of Maryland interview. Were you the guy who complained of the traffic on the freeways?

Dmoney: They did the same exact thing at my interview, as far as writing down the schools ive gotten interviews at, and we actually talked about some of the schools.

boboli_chef: Feel the exact same why you do when I tell schools Im applying to my state school. Two separate people at my maryland interview told me I should go to my state school, which I just had to shrug off and explain that Im not sure where I want to go and that i am interested in their school.

Other than that, ill post my interview feedback, but my experience sounds exactly the same as D$.
