Maryland vs. Pitt

I've narrowed it down to MD and Pitt and wanted to get some opinions from current students...I was very impressed with Maryland's new facilities and research opportunities...plus my interviewer (dr. mays) was amazing.
How are these schools in terms of students specializing? (Not sure if I want to yet, but would like the chance)
Do you like Baltimore/Pittsburgh?

I'd go where your budget best fits you, first and foremost. All the dental schools are accredited and they produce very good doctors. Yes, some dental schools come with more bells and whistles, but at the end of the day that's not what makes it more/less possible to specialize. Most people who want to specialize work hard to make the cut and they go on to specialize. If not by the first try, then usually the 2nd try.

I went to Maryland and thought the overall experience was top notch and I highly recommend taking advantage of the new school, new technology and expanded curriculum.

Again, pick soemthing that fits in your budget. Its hard to get "in state tuition" if u aren't married, pay taxes etc...

one of friends is a second year at maryland and he absolutely loves it. He was in the same situation... couldnt decide between a couple schools, but he is very happy with his decision to go to maryland. he raves about the new facilities and research opportunities. He also hopes to specialize. Sorry i cant tell you about it first hand but I hear it so much from him that i would recommend the school.

My older brother graduated from Pitt and was very happy with it, and thinks it is a very good school. He is currently doing a Pedo residency. As for Maryland I know nothing about their program.
