Maryland waitlist?

Rec'd waitlist letter May 12 saying I was in top half of waitlist(170 total). But it also said class was over-subsribed, 220 accepted and a preferred class size of 170. Looks like 50 people would have to drop acceptances for the waitlist to even start moving. (last year they took about 30 off the waitlist but a couple of years ago I heard they took no one since only a few dropped and the class size was 200) I've been accepted to Georgetown and need to line up housing soon. Anyone heard anything yet. I looked at the WL threads and no one(SDNer, that is) from Maryland has accepted a spot yet.

First off, the class size is typically 150 at maryland. I also received the upper 1/2 waitlist letter. Although it did mention the class being over-sized, the letter did not mention by how many.. so I am not sure where you have received these numbers.

Info on last few years' waitlists comes from current UMSOM students. I meant to type 150 class size but typed 170 which is number on waitlist.

Ahh, you are referring to the waitlist #'s from last year. I called the school last week and they said the class is over-subscribed, but not by many. They would not tell me the exact amount, but it did not seem as large as last years 220 accepted at this point in time. Does anyone know any information about this years waitlist?

So, when you called the school, did they seem annoyed you were calling? I want to call around mid June if I haven't heard so I can arrange housing in DC if it looks like I won't get in to UMSOM. Don't you think they might be more forthcoming by then? Like, if you were at the bottom of the first half and didn't have a chance by then of getting in, they'd let you know that? I can see why they wouldn't want to say too much now. I know a second year there that got in two days before classes started! I am working at NIH outside DC right now but living in Baltimore so that wouldn't be a problem, but if I wait until August to find DC housing I could be commuting for quite a while!
