UMD just invited me to interview late November. I'm out of state, who knows how many out of staters they take? How is the school in general, are current students happy? Is Baltimore cool?

This is true. Predents says aroudn 62 in / 60 out.

yeah, Maryland's class is close to 50% out-of-staters. Baltimore is a large, relatively cheap city. there are tons of younger people living around the UMB campus in very safe, nice apartments. plus there are a few really great neighborhoods where we party come friday. if you can, schedule your flight out later at night and check out the city (inner harbor, federal hill, canton, fells point) after your interview... good luck!
