So far, I've been to the homes of five psychiatrists now and noticed that in four of them, they had masks on the wall.

Is this a psych thing or just a random quirk from small sample size?

Fess up. How many of you psych types have decorative masks in your home?

I know nothing about art and less about masks, but some looked Native American, some looked African, and some looked Pacific Islander. Things picked up from travels. Nothing unusual, except seeing them in the homes of so many psychiatrists.

I'd actually find mardi gras masks on a wall a little weirder. I suppose a collection of horror movie masks would be more troubling yet.

Honestly I never noticed any masks at any other psychiatrist's home.

I do have a studio grade Darth Vader mask.

I've had that since college. I don't attribute that to being a psychiatrist. I attribute that to me being a sci fi geek. I used to spend about $20/year on a Darth Vader costume. Each year it got better and better even to the point where I had that circuit board on my chest, but I finally came to the realization that a 5'7" Darth Vader just isn't cool.

Only really kinda wierd things I wanted to put in my home, and have not done so yet is a pharoah bookshelf...

I never used it myself, though the guy who runs the local prison swears by them. According to him its the full handprint. I don't know if the one I showed is the same model he uses.
 
Whopper, depending on who you're trying to keep the gun away from and what purpose you plan on using it for, I'd try the safe out first to see how quickly you can get it open if you're in a rush. You could sacrifice some safe safety and use a safe that has four finger holes with spring loaded pads - when all the pads are pressed to the correct length (which you set to the length of your fingers fully pressed into the holes) it unlocks (and it would be much cheaper/faster to open than what you're looking at. Only kid safe though, pretty easy for an adult hand to find the right distances.

I have nothing in my office at work, but I do own a Mardi Gras mask I bought in Venice, Italy and I used to have it hanging on my wall. I got it because it's a cat's face and I love cats. A friend gave me an African mask once and I don't know what became of it...it was kind of creepy looking.
 
Nope, unless taxidermy counts. I refuse to eat anything with a face, so I have my taxidermist cut it off and mount it:meanie:

Speaking of which, I think I am going to go make some venison chili
 
I have a huge collection of zoids, and a select collection of transformers. That's about it.
