Good evening everyone. I had a quick question in regards to MA reciprocity. I already work in MA as a pharmacist and my fiancé is looking to transfer her license to MA from Maine. We both graduated last year, 2015. I remember reading/hearing that you had to wait 1 year until you could transfer your license via reciprocity. I tried to look for this but I can't actually find anything that specifically states this. Also, does she need to maintain CE according to Maine's law or Massachusetts's? Plus once reciprocity is done, can she practice in both Maine and Massachusetts, or just Massachusetts?

Any information in regards to reciprocity would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your fiance will need to keep her Maine license active if Maine is her only license by exam. "The Board will not require license transfer applicants to maintain their license by original examination, but the license transfer applicant must have a license in good standing from a member board and transferred their license through the NABP Clearinghouse after" [Source]. If she had more than one license by exam she could choose which one to let lapse, as they do not require that the original license by exam be maintained. An extra license is an asset, not a liability [Disclaimer: I have 4 licenses by exam]. She will have to keep up with CE for both per each state's individual requirements. If both registrations are paid up, CE is current, and both licenses are in good standing she can practice in both. I'm not seeing any minimum time period for MA or ME to reciprocate in. Reciprocating to NY requires 1 year of active practice first (2080 documented hours). Good Luck!
