I would like to pursue a Master's degree (and likely a PhD eventually) in Industrial Organizational Psych.

I'm worried about my GRE scores (that they won't be high enough for admission) and am looking for advice as to whether I should take them again, or if my scores will make admission cutoffs. I don't want low scores to hinder my chances of getting in, or to take away from my other credentials.

Q: 600
AW: I don't have my official results yet (so I also don't have percentiles for the above scores)

I have good undergraduate marks (3.75 cumulative GPA on a 4.3 scale), high marks in stats and on my honours thesis, and both paid and volunteer research experience in 4 different labs (3 clinical, 1 O.B.).

It may also be helpful to know that my degree is from a Canadian school (Queen's University) and I will be applying mostly - but not exclusively - to Canadian schools.

Any advice about GRE scores/whether I might be an acceptable candidate (especially in Canada vs. the States) would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a bunch in advance 🙂

Obviously every school is different but my guess is that your scores won't help but they won't hurt either. Every APA school will have the average GRE scores of their students published (for the doc programs). Look up the school you want to go to and see how you compare.

For US programs, Your GRE's should be in the range for M.A. programs in I/O, but probably on the lower end for PhD programs in I/O. Don't know about canadian programs.
