Hi,

I'm a postbacc right now and will finish my prereq's/mcats in april to apply in june. Assuming I can get funding/loans/pay for it and get accepted, what do you all think of the idea of getting a masters in some subject other than Public Health next year. I was thinking of the History of Science. Is that crazy? As far as telling med school what I'm doing next year, preparing me for med school, etc...

I'm not an expert on this, but if I were applying to masters programs with intent of going on to med school, I'd look into programs that have atleast somewhat of a linkage to the med school. There's many programs out there like this.....just do a search. That way if you do well, you'll have an edge on getting into the school. Also, if you have a very strong gpa already, you may be risking it by pursuing a masters if you don't end up doing as well. The one year masters programs are generally very expensive. You may want to weigh out your options and areas of weaknesses before you get set upon it.
