Masters or postbacc. I'm confused.

Just wondering why some people opt for a masters and others opt for a post bacc. Is a masters usually pursued by undergrads that majored in a science? I'm a business major, so getting into a masters science program is not likely and pursuing an MBA is not relevant.

Can someone explain this? Are you allowed to take non-masters related classes if you do an MBA. That seems like it'd be overload and take a bit longer to complete.

I think you're right about it being science majors vs non-science.

For example--I got a degree in music a few years ago. So now I'm just enrolled in a different school for a second undergraduate degree ostensibly, and I'm just doing a year of prerequisite science courses and then I'll leave---without completing any program.

It's simply a vehicle to either get a higher GPA or the courses you missed---the actual degree just depends on what's logical for your situation. And it would probably be smart to design it as an alternative in case you don't get in---which I'm not doing. Going all in!

But it's the cheapest way for me--40 credits in two semesters and two summers at a state university for about $11k in tuition

It has something to do with being a science major vs no science major but ultimately depends on the number of science credits and your overall gpa.

If Im a business major who took the pre reqs (basic pre reqs :bio, chem, phy, micro, biochem) as free electives and graduated in 4 years then I would need post bac because I could raise the science gpa factor by taking upper level courses.

If you were a science major then you have taken everything thing and a masters is your only shoot because you would already have a lot of science credits and taking more undergraduate level science classes would not do anything because the weight of science classes wouldnt do anything significant

Unless your major was in chemistry or another science (not bio) and you needed a post bac to take upper division biology classes.
