I'm applying this cycle, but am very aware that I may not get in. I'm also graduating, and because I didn't apply to a master's program in the winter, I won't be in school the 2011-2012 year. I need to bring my GPA up. Are there any master's programs that I could apply to over the summer and begin before fall 2012?

Try Mississippi College. They have a 1 year MBS program and I think that their are still spots left. Here is the link

Definitely look into Mississippi College's program. But, get ready to work hard - it's more of a program to help you do well in Medical/Dental school, not so much bring up your GPA (significantly)

Johns Hopkins MS in Biotechnology. You can finish it one year and you have a wide variety of courses to choose from, but it is a little bit on the expensive end.

In terms of admission? No, I applied and got in. Seems like a good program that will take anyone with a pulse; the opportunity to take shelf exams is a definite plus.

The down side is that it's in mississippi. When I think of mississippi the only thing I think of is movie mississippi burning. Therefore, I chose to attend another masters program. Also, the "a christian university" is a bit of a turn off if you're not religious.

Just in case you don't get into any master's program for the fall, you can also try doing an informal post-bacc at your state university to bring up your gpa. It is usually cheaper too.

I completed the MC medical sciences program this past fall and would definitely recommend it. As long as you are willing to put the work in order to be successful in the program, then it will definitely help you with your chances for dental school. I applied right before I started, 0 interviews. I applied this past cycle after having done well in the program at MC, 5 interviews, multiple acceptances. Message me if you have any questions.

IUPUI (Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis) has a 1 year non-thesis driven masters program that a bunch of my classmates took to raise their GPA!

Would a graduate non-degree program be appropriate, or do schools prefer you enroll in a degree program? For example, my state school claims they consider GPAs from a Master's program entirely seperate from one's undergrad GPA. I'm not sure about their stance on non-degree programs...still in contact with them about this topic...

I would think enrolling in a non-degree program and taking upper level science courses would be just as effective...any thoughts?

Hi, I'm currently applying 2 this program also. I am a non traditional student. Would anyone be willing to talk about experiences about the program, how it helped you and your initial reason for applying 2 the program. I an a non_trad student, I have been out of school for a # of years & need help with the mcat & exposure to an academic setting before going to medical school. Preferably I am looking for a program that will do both but not a flimsy attempt at either ( I need a lot of help on the MCAT) . Right now the main thing is the mcat inorder to gain acceptance to a program, but I also want to beableto hold my ground medical school wise, hence the MS portion that I am looking for. Do you have any advise about this 2 for 1 situation?? One other thing about this MC MS program is that I will be on my own as far as te MCAT.....
