Hello guys!!!

I am starting my masters program during the summer of 2016 to improve my chances of getting into the 2017 cycle of dental school, particularly through the TMDSAS and AADSAS system. Would it be too late for my masters curriculum to reflected for consideration after I finish the summer? I know they interview starting August for Texas schools, but I would only be finishing up the summer term and beginning my fall term post-grad. How would that be weighed in terms of my chances of getting in this year?

What is your overall GPA and DAT score? Also, how long is your masters program?
- If your GPA is fairly low, I would actually wait out the entirety of your masters program and apply the next cycle (entering class of 2022). This is because if your GPA is below a 3.0, getting into a TX school will be very difficult if not impossible and it limits your choices of schools. Completing that master's program with high marks will help you a lot.
- If your GPA is fairly average (low 3.0s) then you might as well give it a shot by applying to a few schools that aren't too hard to get into.
- If your master's program ends before February of 2017, you will have enough time to submit an academic update to all your schools which will have your master's grades in your application.
