Congrats to all who matched and scrambled successfully. I wanted to ask those who've gone through this before what are we supposed to do right after we find out on Match Day where we matched. Are we supposed to contact the PD by phone? email? just wait for them to contact us? or just wait for something in the mail? What's the proper etiquette on Match Day?

I don't know for sure because I'm just going through it this year also. However, we were told to watch our email/mail because the program you match to will be sending you contracts and other stuff fairly soon. Otherwise, don't worry about it and celebrate that you matched into the field of your choice! Best of luck to you tomorrow!

You don't need to do anything - they will contact you. Apparently I got a call the next day. Not sure I remember too much about what we talked about.

Beware! Several of my classmates got calls from their PDs while we were out at the bars. It wouldn't have been so bad except they answered their phones....

Yeah, they will call you. I was in the midst of a 4 year olds freak out when my director called me.

Fantastic, I was planning on sending out an email but if I'm going to get a call anyway, I'll be on the lookout for it.

Is it rude to shunt the call to voicemail if I'm out in a haze of celebration? (I'm assuming as long as I call back Friday afternoon it won't be a huge deal?)

This happened to me on match day, PD called about 4 PM to cell phone at bar. 😱😱😱😱😱😱:scared::scared::scared:

Not to worry. My whole view of PD's has changed since med school. Most of the ones that I know finish up calling their new residents and then they go to the bar themselves. Some to celebrate, some just to forget about the whole process and wonder if they can take one more year of this pd bs.

Congrats to all of you.

That's funny ... I just left a bar full of attendings ... 🙂

Had an interesting conversation about plagiarism in personal statements today.
