i thought UCLA always matched like 15 people into derm, only 3 this year?

Thats true. Last year it was 11. The dean even made a mention of it during our match day ceremony. I guess more of us were interested in doing surgery and subspecialties; probably in greater numbers at least for the past decade and a half or so- we're an anomaly.

I'm not sure if I should post the lists that come with names or not. On one hand, it would be extremely tedious to go through and group them by specialty. And I found this information plain as day on the Internet, not through any password protected sites.

On the other hand, it IS people's names out there and SDN is a big forum..

let me know your thoughts, i will take them down if people think they shouldn't be up here.

We typically err on the side of not including people's names, even if they are available publically. SDN has more visitors than a typical university site so an individual's privacy may be more at stake when posting their name here than on the program web site. So I would prefer names be taken out.

I do question however, the need to post these lists in the Residency Forum. They are not of interest to most residents but rather to medical students and pre-meds and are better placed there. In addition, it is not necessary to repost a thread which exists elsewhere on SDN.

I understand your point. But this thread has gotten a lot of thread views so there must be some interest here. I am an M3 about to become an M4, so I am curious as to how the matches are turning out. I think a lot of M2s/M3s peruse this forum for residency information, rather than Allopathic or Clinical Rotations; and certainly not Pre-Allo (which, to be honest, if you aren't a pre-med, its hard to sift through given its constant turnover and updating). And I am sure M4s that have matched may be interested to see how their school did as compared to other schools. Also, the lists haven't been updated in Pre-Allo as compared to this list. But if others agree with you, then majority rules and I understand.

I took out the lists with the names.

Speaking for myself and a few others, we look at EVERY thread, and multiple times, so the number of views doesn't necessarily correlate with high interest.

I understand and welcome medical students and pre-meds to use the residency forums. However, lists of where medical students are matching is not necessarily a residency issue but I agree with you, if others feel differently I do not strongly oppose the thread staying here. The logic that these threads are of interest to medical students so they belong in the residency forum doesn't really pan out...this happens every year and we tend to move the threads back to Allo.

Agree with the above. These types of threads are more suited for the Allopathic forum. A duplicate thread also already exists in the Pre-Allopathic forum.

Closing this thread.
