It's only based on the handful of people who entered their info --> self-selection bias.


To get a general idea, I would use this: http://www.sfmatch.org/residency/ophthalmology/about_match/match_report.pdf. It's not broken down by program, but it's based on all applicants and published by SF Match.

Self selection, those with crappy scores (like me) don't post them. Avg is around 235 now I think. Granted those top 10-20 places do probably avg more like 245.

This is a cool website but ignore all the stats (USMLE and AAO status)posted here because of the "bias" in reporting.

There is great value in the comments section, however.

Is there such a thing as a "perfect score" on these step tests? What are they out of? I'm assuming they are scaled scores. Is that so?

Scaled scores. Theoretically they are out of 300 but the highest I have seen are in the 270s, heard of one in the 280s.
