I was hoping for a busy L4 center with ECMO, but it looks like that wasn't in the cards for me. I matched at a smaller L3 NICU. Will I be able to get experience with ECMO later on in my career? Is ECMO experience even that important?

Sorry to hear you didn't get what you want. There are relatively few neonatology jobs that require ecmo training and most of these could get the experience at the place. Nowadays not many neonatologists managing ecmo and not that many babies going on it. Exceptions to the biggest centers of course, but even then, plenty of faculty don't do ecmo call, etc. Focus on getting a good broad clinical experience and you'll have plenty of job options.
