So I matched at my first choice and am very excited about starting in July...but dang I cant help thinking about some of the great things I will be missing out on at other programs and their locations. I was fortunate enough to have a rank list that I would have honestly been stoked to match anywhere in my top 8...so many good things about all of them. I just can't help but think about "what if" with the others. Same thing happened when I got married😀

not relaly there was only one program that i thought was overall better than my number one choice but i hated the location. I think with the fear that was so high about matching this year people were just glad to match. Remorse my set in once you actually get to the program and find out how har dit is.

Look, no matter where you go, after about 2-3 years of residency you will be thinking to yourself, and occasionally saying aloud regardless of present company -- "when the f*ck does this end?".

So don't second guess yourself. Just enjoy your remaining time off, brace for internship, and know in four years you will have a fun and interesting job you will look forward to every morning. Chances are very high you will look back at your remorse and chuckle.

If you forget everything else I've ever said on this forum, remember this:

THERE IS NO PERFECT PROGRAM OUT THERE!

Don't beat yourself up second guessing. Despite your choice, you're going to get to a point - eventually - where you'll fully realize that residency sucks. That's when your mettle will be tested (i.e., surviving it) yet knowing there's a light at the end of the tunnel... which fortunately ain't a train. And, also know that, even if you're at the #1 program in the country, it's gonna be doubly hard once you've secured a post-residency spot that's waiting for you where you'll be making bank, and you've long already come to the realization that you have to continue to endure, on a daily basis, getting abused by hacks for $12 an hour.
