Hey everyone. Are there any people out there who have been part of the "first" resident class at a new EM program? What was your experience like? What should people think about when ranking these programs? Did you have any trouble finding a job afterwards? Was there ever any worry about loss of accreditation or funding?

I understand that it must vary immensely based on the people actually running the program, but just wanted to hear your thoughts. Thank you

I have no experience with new residency programs, but I doubt you will have any problem finding a job afterward. There are jobs galore. Everywhere. Recruiters be callin' your phone all days of the week...

Yeah absolutely no problem getting a job. Now getting a job in San Diego or some of the best crit care programs might be more difficult if not known. But I doubt that much it matters in the long run. EM trained is EM trained as far as recruiters go.

"First Class" graduate here. No difficulty in landing the job I wanted out of residency. This was true for 8/8 of our class.
