So I applied to over 200 Ob/gyn programs throughout the country because I am really interested in ob/gyn and can't really imagine myself doing anything else, and so far I have almost 60 rejections and 1 interview. I blame part of this on my personal statement, because I used the wrong form of a word. Do you guys think it's time for me to apply to a different specialty, maybe something less competitive? and then re enter the match next year and try again in OB/gyn for 2014? I'm also aware a lot of programs do not get back to you, especially ones in the northeast, so I can assume probably that I've been rejected by more programs than I've counted. 🙁

Getting a word wrong in your PS, no matter how egregious, is not the reason you're not getting interviews. I'm going to guess you're an IMG with minimal/no USCE and bad Step scores with an extra attempt or three. Maybe YOG 5 or more years ago, or a previous training experience that went horribly awry. Those are the sorts of things that get you 60 rejections and 1 interview, not messing up their and they're in your PS.

You guessed right I am an IMG
