Start by hitting up the school websites. A good number of schools have a link somewhere on their sites with match lists for the previous years. I doubt you will find a master list of D.O. and Caribbean schools though. I can tell you this though: You will see much better matches in the D.O. lists than that of the Caribbean. Put simply, do what you have to do to stay Stateside if possible; you will be much better off with a D.O. from the States than a M.D. from offshore.

The DO match lists are in the Osteopathic Medical Student thread. Just search 'match list' in that forum and you'll find it. Let me save you some time though ...

1. Interpreting a match list is a waste of your time. Do you really know what programs are strong? Should you just look for big names? Should you look for the number of specializations? Etc. Long story short, they are too subjective and don't show much besides what the class was interested in for whatever reason.

2. You're going to be far, far better off at a US DO school than a Caribbean.

Not so fast. The average person judges physician prestige not by their degree, but by their specialty (no one evens knows what DOs are, just like they don't know what IMGs are). There's nothing holding a DO back from specializing. IMGs on the other hand? Well, I think we both know who wins that bebate.

Get comfortable with two words, dear: metformin and Midwest.

At one point I was also concerned with the MD vs. DO thing.

The debate really boils down to this: Would you rather a) Get reputable US education in medicine with all its perks but sacrifice 2 letters after your name, or b) Sacrifice your entire education and quite possibly completely fail attaining your dream so that you can have 2 letters after your name but as soon as someone asked you where you went to school you'll seem like an inferior doctor?

I'm not trying to say that a Caribbean doctor is necessarily inferior, but that's the perception that exists.

As for match lists, schools like SGU, AUC, Ross, and Saba post them on their website. Saba is really careful as to not give up how many people per residency because that uncovers the fact that their attrition rate is through the roof.
