is math really, really important in admission considerations? from looking at the school websites, i haven't seen any that require calculus or anything for that matter.

the reason i ask is because i am a social work/pre-med (DO of course!) major, and the only math that i have to take for social work is Stats and Society, which is a tough Stats course.

should i take another course to help my application look better? or should i stay away from higher math?

it might be relevant to say that i really, really, really, suck at math!

thanks all!

I took a college trig course freshman year, and a Biostats class and that's about it. I got into where I applied. It's not a big deal at DO schools, some MD schools require Calc I but math still remains a non-issue. Hope this helps.

So I guess I don't need to sweat taking Calc-based Physics after all 🙄 ?

1. There is no math above a middle school level in medical school. The only college math class that would be helpful for medicine would be biostatistics, although we barely touch the surface of it.

2. I suck at math as well. The people that do well in math in medical school are the ones involved in research. I am not.

3. Some DO schools require Calculus, so make sure to double-check the schools you are applying to.
