Hi Guys!

Well, I just need some advice from someone who is not naturally good at math. I took the DAT and did fine in all sections but got a REALLY low math score. I have no choice but to retake to get into my top schools.

So, I was wondering if someone could let me know what resources they used for improving their math score on the DAT. I have always found math more difficult then any other subject so just need to know what I can do to get an awesome score in QR next time around!

Thanks!!!

go to your local library and get any SAT or ACT math workbook!

I'm horrible at math too. The first time I took the DATs my QR was 16. After the DAT I had to study for the GRE, and that immensely helped develop my math skills, because i pretty much relearned all the basic skills that I kind of skimped on the first time around in grade school/some college. I retook the DAT and got an 18. i know that's not GREAT, but it's not low enough to be like a "red flag" to d-schools or anything, and that's around the average math score for a lot of schools i think.

So yeah, go through math questions from other standardized tests. Even take GRE math tests. Then move up to DAT questions.

Thanks so much! I would be happy with an 18 in QR🙂 I am gonna shoot my goal higher though so I have no worries going into it! Thanks for the advice I'll have to go check out the library and see what they have, Are there any specific books that helped you out?

(I already have topscore, destroyer.)

I had my brothers SAT white books laying around so i used them. I thought they were great. Kaplan GRE books are also good. For word problems, if you go to borders or B&N, there are books that are especially devoted to word problems. They were relatively short books and extremely helpful! Hope that helps.

The best thing someone told me was on the DAT Prep forum

Basically: skip all the world problems til the end and do all the easy questions first. I did this right, except I had about 30 word problems! BUT I went through them again...and I think I guessed on at least 10 questions...still managed an 18! Perhaps b/c of the fact that I did all those easy problems first.
