I want to begin studying for the math section and the PAT, does anyone have any advice as to what books they found helpful???
Joe

im not too sure for math..

but i have heard great things about cdp for the pat (as it is pretty similar to the DAT).. i'm not sure how the math portion of that program is and or the science for it?

hopefully someone thats used the cdp for math/science can give some feed back on it..

I didn't learn from any books, all I did was Crack DAT Math. All the problems you encounter in this you will encounter on the real thing. So long as you know how to practice with these problem sets and solve them quickly you should be set. My median scores ranged from 21-24 and I got a 22 on the real thing. Just be prepared to expect slightly harder problems on the real thing because AFAIK there is nothing on the market right now that matches the difficulty of the real QR.

I dont think that the QR on the DAT is so difficult. I just tyhink that people are taking QR after sitting through 3 hours of testing asndf they are all worn out and rundown. If they wouldmtake it in the beginning the grades woud be alot higher. The time factor is also a big issue. In fact its probbly the biggest issue. If you have your timing down then you should have no problems.

I think most books don't do a great job with the PAT. The Barron's book, although overall is not very good, does have some helpful information on the PAT section - and the book is cheap so it might be worth getting. Kaplan is okay for getting the basics, but the practice problems are way too easy. The best option is Crack DAT PAT - its a computer program with practice problems. I think its the best way to take on the PAT section. With the math section, I hear Crack DAT Math is very good. I personally just used the kaplan book math section and thought it was sufficient, but not excellent. Here are some links. Good luck.

Crack DAT PAT is money. Started off with 17s but once I got past that 20 barrier I never went back and got a 24 on the real thing. It is for the most part similar to the real thing. Topscore is good too but they only have 3 exams so thats not enough practice.

Ace Edition, known as the $100 one, should be enough. It consists of 10 exams.
