I took Math 4B at UCSB and it was differential equations and only halfway through the quarter i learnt that it was useless to my major and it was too late so i changed it to pass/fail since it was a very hard engineering math class. Will this affect my gpa as in that it is viewed as C on the amcas application?

As far as I know, no it will not. I had pass/fail classes and they did not affect my AMCAS GPA. However, schools WILL get your transcripts, and they might be curious about the discrepancy between AMCAS GPA and how your school calculated it.

On your transcript, is it listed as a C or as a P? If it's a C, then it will affect your AMCAS GPA.
